I am Carolina Figueroa, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW. I was born and raised in Colombia (South America). Many years ago, I immigrated to the United States, and I became a bilingual immigrant, who is now an active member of the community.
I began to volunteer and found my professional passion in the social work field. I have been working and volunteering in different nonprofit organizations, where I have had the privilege to support our community. I hold a master's degree from Sacred Heart University and a bachelor's degree from La Salle University.
Every day I work with the community, and as an immigrant myself, I am aware of the additional challenges we confront every day due to the language, financial, legal, and cultural barriers.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have experience working with young adults, mothers, teenagers, and families providing counseling to address the multiple factors they face, addressing difficulties of acculturation, trauma and loss, identity, family reunification, relationship conflicts, and transnational grieving.
I continue to enjoy volunteering in nonprofit organizations, serving, advocating, and mentoring members of the community.

Combining mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness, DBT is especially effective for those struggling with mood disorders, self-harm, or borderline personality traits. Narrative Therapy helps individuals explore and reshape the stories they tell about themselves. By separating the person from the problem, this approach empowers clients to uncover strengths, reframe negative experiences, and build a more empowering personal narrative. It is especially helpful for those dealing with trauma, identity issues, or life transitions, offering a respectful and collaborative path to healing and growth.
Family Systems Therapy focuses on understanding and improving the dynamics within a family unit. By exploring how individual behaviors are influenced by family roles, patterns, and communication styles, this approach helps families resolve conflict, strengthen relationships, and support one another more effectively. It’s a collaborative process that promotes lasting change by addressing the system as a whole—not just the individual.
